RSL Documentary

With the Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah complete Real Salt Lake played in their new home for the first time last night. We have been working on a documentary about the new stadium for the last few months and the team's first game in their new home is the finally chapter in our story. With production wrapped we are hard at work editing the hours of interviews, practice and game footage, press conferences, and construction footage into a 20 minute piece.

Here are some pictures from last night's game:

Production - The Way to Deadman Pass

We shot Friday evening and all day Saturday to complete production on our short film which has now been officially titled: The Way To Deadman Pass

Everyone had fun even though there was an excessive amount of sun and sand. We were always ahead of schedule and had some good food to eat! The footage looks amazing and has all been cut together. Currently the sound is being mixed. So everybody will be able to see the finished product soon! Click here to read an article about our adventures producing this film.

Chance Studios is producing a sci-fi indie film called Archangel Alpha and they're shooting with the revolutionary new camera: the RED One (RED® is a trademark of RED Digital Cinema). They asked us to video all the behind-the-scenes action.

Here are some stills from our video footage of the cast and crew hard at work on location:

Apple Insomnia Film Festival

for those of you who may have found rating our film difficult, this is apple's formal excuse:

Hello Insomniacs!

Here's an update on the progress of the public rating period:

- We started the week by making significant enhancements to the web servers to accommodate the amazing traffic that all of your films have generated. The Insomnia Gallery is now running at 110% and performance should no longer be an issue.

- A few of you have had trouble registering friends and family who are visiting the gallery and want to rate your film. We recognize that requiring an Apple ID and registering separately for voting in the gallery isn't the fastest process. However, it's important to have both of these steps to ensure that ratings are calculated fairly.

- Some of you have asked to change the description or thumbnail of your film. Unfortunately, this information is not something that can be changed.

- We've received a few questions about why the current rating of a film isn't visible. At this time we don't have any plans to make ratings visible because we have found in the past that this encourages a substantial amount of cheating. We are able to detect cheating but it takes extra time to correctly re-adjust a films score. The score of a film is not just a sum of the ratings and is based on multiple factors which allows a film's rank to change quickly. This also means that the most watched film may not necessarily be the winning film. Ratings of more stars carry more weight for a film's overall score.

- Remember that public rating lasts for another 17 days so now is the time to campaign on behalf of your teams film!

Good luck!

Voting for "It's Mine!"

Hello one and all once again,

Apple has had some difficulty getting the site ready over the weekend so that people can rate the videos for the competition. There were something like 3,000 entries. I bring you all good news, ours is the best video of them all, but we need to prove that, and I need your help. A few of you have rated on Apple's site already, I give you my thanks. For those of you who are awaiting instructions here are your instructions:

First go to http://edcommunity.apple.com/insomnia_fall07/item.php?itemID=1170
If you want to watch it again click on the "launch in quicktime" button, there is supposed to be a thumbnail so that you can watch it in the browser, but Apple is silly and lost our .jpg file... I will deal with those fools later.

Second, rate our video, an Apple ID is required. So you must either log in/register or select a 4 star rating on the right then click on the arrow next to it which will force you to log in/register. It might be a bit buggy, I ran into some issues myself... but with luck you should be able to confirm your 4 star rating of our video "It's Mine!". Only a 4 star rating will suffice for a clear victory over the lesser videos. Anything less than a 4 star rating will put us in jeopardy, it is imperative that you all give our video a 4 star rating!

Thirdly, I mentioned earlier that some of you have already rated our film and gave thanks. I am grateful for that but the act of rating alone will not ensure a win. You must share this information with EVERYONE! I am normally not a promoter of forwarding e-mails, but this isn't a pass it on to 10 people or you'll wake up with warts kind of thing, this is a pass it on or I will personally find you and do horrible things to your beloved baseball card collection or other type of collection kind of thing! Yes, that was a threat, please don't follow up with lawyers, I was joking... or was I?

RIGHT! So this is what must be done! Thanks to you all!

P.S. If you have already watched it and rated it on YouTube this means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Please follow the instructions listed above, thanks again!
